Driver woes on Vista? Sonic Solutions DLA problem solved

Everytime my wife’s new Dell Inspirion 6400 boots she gets an alert from Vista saying: Sonic Solutions DLA driver blocked. I tried looking at the Dell support site nothing, nada, nil. Searching google for Sonic Solutions DLA turned up a thread on CNet: “Windows Vista: Driver Blocked Due to Compatibility Issues”. After some playing with CNet’s interface (its not well designed to quickly read threads of 50+ messages) I found a link to the Roxio website: “DLA driver blocked on Vista launch”. Hopefully this post will save others a few minutes (and maybe boost the google juice of the patch itself).

Thanks for posting this information. I found your blog when I was looking for information about the Sears extended warranty. Since then, it’s been in my RSS feed.

I just got a new Dell PC, and sure enough, I started getting the “Sonic Solutions DLA driver blocked” error on startup. Having read your post prior to getting my computer, I knew exactly what to do.

    Thanks again!

Thanks alot for the information. I downloaded it and presto, it disappeared. I just installed 2 each 1 gig memory sticks in my Dell Inspiron E1705 and it wouldn’t accept it. I finally had to reformat the hard drive to get the computer to work. The company “Memory Giant” said it must be a compatibility problem and they’re shipping me new sticks. Let’s hope it works.

I was pleased to find your website with the solution to the annoying Sonic Solution DLA Driver is blocked due to compatibility issue. I downloaded the 32bit driver only to find an error message “Software not found. Drag-to-disc 32 Vista could not be located on your system” Strange.

I checked and I have Sonic RecordNow! and DLA programmes installed on my laptop. Am I doing something wrong? I even wanted to uninstall the Sonic set of programmes but it will not let me do that either!

Afer having my hard drive replaced (on my Toshiba Satellite laptop)I was told (by toshiba) to insert the recovery disk to install Windows XP (originally on the laptop when bought). I upgraded to Vista Home Premium and ever since I am getting the annoying message every time I reboot.

Does this makes sense? Can you help???

    Many thanks.
